At the Clinic of Facial Plastic Surgery, plastic surgeon David A. Sherris performs facelift surgery using a variety of techniques so that he can customize results to the unique needs and goals of each individual patient. For many patients of our plastic surgery practice in Buffalo, deep plane facelift produces the best possible results.

What Is Deep Plane Facelift?

The deep plane facelift is a variation of the standard facelift technique intended to correct drooping of the midface structures such as the cheeks as well as deep nasolabial folds (the lines that run from the edges of the nose to the edges of the lips). Traditional facelift techniques are not as effective in improving the appearance of these areas. Dr. Sherris carefully screens patients to ensure that they are good candidates for deep plane facelift before recommending the procedure.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Deep Plane Facelift?

Good candidates for deep plane facelift will have experienced noticeable changes over the years in the midface region, with significant ptosis (drooping) in these areas. They will have reasonable expectations of the procedure, preferring subtle, natural-looking rejuvenation over a dramatic, “operated-on” look.

The Deep Plane Facelift Process

The primary difference between a traditional full facelift and the deep plane facelift lies in the treatment of the malar fat pad in the cheek and in the tightening of the underlying tissue. In the latter, this fat pad is lifted, along with the surrounding tissues, to provide a deeper lift. The fat pad and surrounding tissues are elevated on the cheek bone, and the overlying skin and tissue are reattached in the desired position. Otherwise, the deep plane facelift is quite similar to a full facelift.

Benefits of a Deep Plane Facelift

The deep plane facelift is one of the most transformative procedures in all of plastic surgery. However, the results are also remarkably natural looking, especially when the procedure is performed by a plastic surgeon with the skill, training, and experience of Dr. Sherris. No other facelift technique is more effective at rejuvenating the appearance of the cheeks and other structures of the midface and is especially effective for patients with very deep nasolabial folds . Dr. Sherris is the master of the subtle incision, ensuring that there will be no visible, tell-tale signs of your having undergone a facelift. You’ll emerge from surgery looking like a younger, more refreshed version of yourself.

Is Deep Plane Facelift Right for You?

Deep plane facelift is a safe procedure that produces excellent long-term results. Patients emerge with smoother skin in the mid face region than they would achieve with a standard facelift, and recovery time is the same. If you are dissatisfied with the appearance of your face due to sagging of the midface structures, including your cheeks and nasolabial area, and you would like to turn back the clock 10 to 15 years, deep plane facelift may be right for you.
